他鄉遇國旗

這是我第一次踏進台灣在外國的辦事處。

「駐新加坡台北代表處」位於新加坡港務局大樓的二十三樓。

踏出電梯，我第一眼看到的不是代表處門口的接待櫃檯，也不是坐在櫃檯後的新加坡駐衛警，

而是聳立在櫃檯兩側的大型國旗，中華民國的國旗。

我站在國旗面前不知端詳了多久，直到駐衛警上前詢問時才回過神來。

代表處裏陳列了許多中國傳統的器皿，牆上掛著一台電視，正播放著介紹台灣的英文版節目。

聽工作人員的口音，應該是直接從台灣派過來的。人員的辦事效率高，但是態度冰冷，也少了台灣人親切的感覺。

離開時又經過國旗前面，這次不敢駐足，只是不斷的邊走邊回頭看，

等電梯時還忍不住側頭多看兩眼，惹得警衛向我投以狐疑的眼光。

他哪裡能夠了解我在國外看到自己國家的國旗時心中的感動？

長久以來，台灣在國際上能夠拿出來的只有奧運的會旗，不知道的人還以為那是台灣的國旗勒！

當我在這個與台灣沒有正式外交關係的國家看得自己的國旗，眼淚都快流出來了。

沒辦法，人年紀一大，淚腺也跟著鬆了…

那也應該有一種起雞皮疙瘩的反應吧.
我在日本唸書時也曾經有這樣的經驗,一種………….親切感一股暖流湧上心頭呢.

I went there few times. Step in there like go back to taipei and dealing with the same civil service altitude make you boiling up.
Yes, the Taiwan national flag always stunt you. I ever dream of we can built an country name "United States of China".. Not PROC OR ROC.
On 1st of March went there surrender my Taiwan I.C & passport. That’s it..
Live in Taiwan for 32 years, 11 years in Singapore finally make the decision to hold Singapore passport to settle down to have real feeling of country. No more uncertain.. no more apply VISA.. But I’m always as Taiwanese.
My Singapore I.C. the race still as Chinese (not china man)
My daughter born in Taiwan and get education in Singapore. I wonder when she grow up will she carry Taiwanese’s open concept spirit to dealing the world or become Singaporean everything go by law always play safe and just follow the command.
Well , Let’s see what will happen in the future…
